2010 - SHUFAT REFUGEE CAMP

Shufat Refugee Camp

Shufat camp is located on the northern outskirts of East Jerusalem, and inhabited by more than 10,000 refugees (2,000 families). Population density is high, as the cost of living in the camp is lower than in other East Jerusalem neighbourhoods.

Construction of the wall separate Shufat from downtown Jerusalem, therefore strongly impacting residents’ access to education and health care services in town.

During february 08 and 09, 2010 Israeli security forces raided a Palestinian refugee camp in annexed east Jerusalem, arresting 11 people in an operation police said was aimed "at putting order in the area". Dozens of police and border police forces in jeeps entered the densely populated Shuafat camp in the north of occupied and annexed east Jerusalem after midnight.
